Careers 7
Required for all 7th grade students. No credit offered. Students will meet every day for twenty weeks or every other day for a year. Local final exam. Course fulfills the Family and Consumer Science requirement in New York. This course is designed to help adolescents live in a society of constant change and to improve their quality of life by preparing them to meet their present and future responsibilities as family members, consumers, home managers, and wage earners. The four areas are 1) The Process - learning to think constructively, make decisions, solve problems and manage resources. 2) Personal development awareness of self and relationships with others. 3) Personal and Family Resource Management - consumer skills and money management 4) Career Planning - an overview of work, tentative plans and entrepreneurship. It is designed to help adolescents live in a society of constant change and to improve their quality of life by preparing them to meet their present and future responsibilities as family members, consumers, home managers, and wage earners.

Health 10
A required course for all tenth grade students. One-half unit of credit will be granted. Prerequisite: middle school health. The course will meet every other day for 40 weeks. Local written final exam will be given. Health class is a systematic approach to promote health-enhancing behaviors related to the prevention of disease and achievement of optimal health. Focuses on the total person with a consideration of the mental, emotional, intellectual, social, physical and environmental dimensions which impact human health.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical Education 7-8
A required course for all 7th and 8th grade students. No units of credit are granted. Students must pass this course in grade 7 and 8. No prerequisites. The course will meet every other day for 40 weeks. Recommended grade level: all students in grades 7 and 8. Through a wide range of activity games, individual and team sports, students gain knowledge and understanding of human movement and personal living skills of cardiovascular fitness, musculosketal fitness, cooperation, risk taking, safety, initiative, leadership, fellowship, trust and respect.

Physical Education 9-12

A required course for all 9-12 grade students. One-half unit of credit will be granted every year for the four years of high school. Prerequisite: Physical Education 7-8. This course will meet every other day for 40 weeks. Recommended grade level: all students in grades 9-12. Students further their understanding and knowledge of human movement and personal living skills with an emphasis on life time sports as well as games, individual and team sports. This is a further continuation of 7-8 physical education, but more in depth.
