Middle School Resource Room

The resource room is for students who have Individual Education Plans and 504 Plans. The resource room provides support programs for students with learning disabilities and/or social/emotional needs. Students come to the resource room to work on their IEP goals and objectives. Classroom material is broken down to meet their individual learning level. Tests, homework and projects are modified. Study guides, outlines and graphic organizers are provided to help the students be successful in the regular education classroom. Many of the lessons use a multi-sensory and step-by-step approach.

High School Resource Room

The resource room is an instructional support program for students with learning disabilities and/or social/emotional needs who have been identified and classified by the Committee on Special Education or 504 Committee. At RSCS, students come to the resource room to work on IEP goals and study/organizational skills to ensure academic success. Students are encouraged to organize and assimilate information they must learn to meet state standards. The ultimate goal is for students to become increasingly independent learners. In addition to working on IEP (Individual Education Plan) goals, students learn study skills which enable them to use appropriate strategies for completing a learning task. These learning tasks for school success are: managing time, materials and self; listening and taking notes in class; class participation in activities and discussions; reading textbooks and assigned materials; writing papers and other assignments; preparing for and taking tests. Some students have testing modifications which are stated on their IEP's. These students may come to the resource room to take tests. The resource room offers encouragement and support to students and reassurance that with hard work they can be successful.
