Posted Date: 01/29/26 (10:42 AM)

Richfield Springs Central School District has scheduled a community information session and will open a community survey to gather input for the district’s search for the next superintendent of schools.

After Richfield Springs Central School District Superintendent Thomas Piatti announced he will be retiring at the end of the 2025-26 school year, the district recently launched a search for his replacement. Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent D.J. Shepardson is leading the superintendent search on behalf of the Richfield Springs Board of Education.

Shepardson will host the community information session at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Richfield Springs school cafeteria at 93 W. Main St. in Richfield Springs. The event will include discussion of the search process, timeline and community survey.

The community survey will be open from Feb. 17-24 and will be posted at www.herkimer-boces.org and www.richfieldcsd.org.

Richfield Springs is accepting superintendent applications through Feb. 17, and the screening and selection of candidates will take place in February and March. Board of Education interviews with candidates will take place in March and April, before the board decides on a hiring. The next superintendent is expected to begin employment on July 1.
