Questions
1)  How do I submit a question to RSCS Listens?
2)  I'm glad the children get an opportunity to get fresh air once in a while, but why have they been banned from the playground? I know it's not dangerous with winter clothes on because #1. I"ve done it myself and #2. I've supervised classes of preschoolers on playground equipment in winter.
3)  3/25/10 There is no information on your website about your Pre-K program. What can you tell me about it?
4)  4/27/10 My nephew, who is 5, should go to kindergarten this fall but he has no preschool education. He lacks a few things. Should he be held back a year and go to Pre-K in the fall? Suggestions?

We are required to adhere to safety regulations regarding the use of the playground. Once the temperature drops the bedding on the playground becomes unsafe for student use.

A
Our Pre-K program was designed to NOT impact the other Pre-school programs in Richfield Springs. Therefore, we have two half day sessions. Students who do not attend Little Lambs or the Head Start Program are in our morning session, which runs from 8:05 - 10:45, and the students who do the other two programs come to our afternoon session that runs from 12:15 - 3:00. We have a full-time certified teacher and a certified teaching assistant in the classroom, and our students have music and PE as part of their "specials." Our program centers on socialization and reading and math readiness. Our students have time for playing, singing, listening to books, making crafts, and using the computers. The sessions have many components and we use a center approach so that students can practice a variety of skills each day.

We enroll 24 students per year, and there is usually a waiting list. Parents who wish to enroll their children in our Pre-K program should contact Mrs. Bailey at 858-0610 to be placed on the list to receive our informational packet.

A child is no longer eligible for Pre-K once they become 5 of age. Kindergarten is the appropriate placement for the fall.
